Track Characteristics
The Miami International Autodrome is built on the roads and parking lots surrounding Hard Rock Stadium, home of the NFL's Miami Dolphins. The circuit was designed to deliver a uniquely American F1 experience, combining high-speed sections with tight technical zones. Three DRS zones provide ample overtaking opportunities, and the long back straight into the Turn 17 chicane is the primary passing spot.
The track's surface was initially very smooth and slippery when it debuted in 2022, but has improved with each passing year. The first sector features a fast blast down to the Turn 1 braking zone, followed by a sequence of medium-speed corners that wind around the stadium. The middle sector contains the challenging Turn 11 chicane and the long straight that runs along a faux marina - complete with water and boats for atmosphere.
Miami's hot and humid conditions create a significant physical challenge for drivers and place heavy stress on tyres and power units. The event has quickly become one of the most glamorous on the calendar, with celebrity attendance, yacht parties (on dry land), and an atmosphere that mixes sport with entertainment in a distinctly South Florida fashion.
