Track Characteristics

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile D-shaped oval located in the desert just north of the Las Vegas Strip. The track features progressive banking in the turns at 20 degrees, which allows multiple racing lines and encourages side-by-side competition. The wide racing surface gives drivers the option of running high, low, or anywhere in between.

The desert climate plays a significant role in how the track races. Temperatures can swing dramatically between practice, qualifying, and race day, and the low humidity means the asphalt surface reacts differently than tracks in more temperate climates. Teams that adapt their setups to the changing track conditions throughout the day tend to have the most success.

The speedway complex also includes a road course, a dirt oval, a drag strip, and a bull ring short track, making it one of the most versatile motorsport facilities in the country. The Neon Garage offers fans a unique behind-the-scenes experience with views into the garage bays.
