Team History
23XI Racing was founded in 2020 by NBA legend Michael Jordan and three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, creating one of the most high-profile team launches in NASCAR history. The name combines Jordan's iconic No. 23 jersey number with Hamlin's No. 11 Cup car, and the team debuted in 2021 with Bubba Wallace as its sole driver in the No. 23 Toyota Camry.
The team wasted no time making history. Wallace won the rain-shortened race at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2021, making Jordan the first Black principal owner of a winning Cup team and giving Wallace just his second career Cup victory. That moment was a cultural milestone for the sport, drawing mainstream attention and proving that the Jordan-Hamlin partnership was more than a celebrity vanity project.
For 2022, 23XI expanded to two cars, adding Kurt Busch in the No. 45. Busch won at Kansas before a concussion at Pocono ultimately ended his racing career. Tyler Reddick was signed as Busch's replacement starting in 2024, and the team continued to grow its technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing, sharing Toyota resources and engineering data that helped accelerate development.
The 2024 and 2025 seasons saw 23XI mature into a legitimate contender. Reddick emerged as one of the fastest drivers in the Cup Series, and the team's expansion to three cars in 2026 - adding Riley Herbst in the No. 35 - signaled the organization's ambitions. With Reddick leading the 2026 standings and carrying four wins, 23XI is having its best season ever. Jordan's competitiveness and deep pockets have turned what started as a startup operation into one of NASCAR's most formidable teams in just five seasons.
Cup Championships
23XI Racing has not yet won a Cup Series championship. With Tyler Reddick leading the 2026 standings, the team is closer than ever to its first title.
