Team History

Juncos Hollinger Racing is one of the newest full-time entrants in the NTT IndyCar Series, but the team has already carved out a memorable place in the sport's recent history. The team is co-owned by Argentine racing entrepreneur Ricardo Juncos and American businessman Brad Hollinger. Juncos originally founded Juncos Racing as a junior formula team, competing successfully in the Road to Indy development series where he earned a reputation for identifying and nurturing young talent on their way to the top level of American open-wheel racing.

The team's most famous moment came before it was even a full-time IndyCar entrant. At the 2019 Indianapolis 500 qualifying, Juncos Racing's entry driven by Kyle Kaiser bumped Fernando Alonso and the McLaren Racing-affiliated entry from the field. The sight of a two-time Formula 1 World Champion being bumped by a tiny independent team became one of the biggest stories in modern Indy 500 history and put Juncos Racing on the global motorsport map. It was a David-versus-Goliath moment that captured the spirit of the Indianapolis 500 - where any team, regardless of budget or pedigree, can compete for a spot in the field.

The partnership with Brad Hollinger in 2021 provided the financial resources needed to transition from part-time Indy 500 entries to a full-time IndyCar program. Callum Ilott, a former Ferrari Driver Academy member and F2 runner-up, served as the team's first full-time driver and helped establish Juncos Hollinger Racing as a legitimate competitor. The team has steadily improved its performance, moving from backmarker status to regular points finishes and the occasional top-ten result. For 2026, JHR fields two Chevrolet-powered entries with Dutch talent Rinus VeeKay and American Sting Ray Robb, both young and hungry drivers who fit the team's philosophy of developing the next generation of IndyCar stars. Under Ricardo Juncos's passionate leadership and with Hollinger's business support, JHR continues to grow and challenge the established order in IndyCar.

Indianapolis 500 Victories

Juncos Hollinger Racing has not yet won the Indianapolis 500. The team's most memorable Indy 500 moment remains the 2019 qualifying session when Kyle Kaiser bumped Fernando Alonso from the field - one of the biggest upsets in modern qualifying history. The team continues to develop and improve with each May, building toward a potential future Indy 500 breakthrough.
