Porsche Penske dominates early with a 1-2 finish at Sebring. Two crews tied at 755 points atop the GTP class. Aitken/Bamber/Vesti 80 points back in third. 9 races remain.

What Is IMSA?

IMSA is multi-class sports car racing. Multiple classes of cars compete on the same track at the same time, each racing for their own class victory. The top class, GTP, features prototype race cars from Porsche, Cadillac, Acura, BMW, and Lamborghini. Below that, GTD Pro and GTD run production-based GT cars. Races range from 100 minutes to 24 hours. The endurance events — the Rolex 24, Sebring, Watkins Glen, and Petit Le Mans — are bucket-list motorsport.

The Storylines

• Porsche Penske 1-2 at Sebring — Porsche Penske Motorsport locked out the top two positions at the 12 Hours of Sebring. The 963 is the car to beat in GTP, and the Penske operation is running with precision.
• Road America gets a 6-hour endurance race — New for 2026, the Road America 6 Hours joins the schedule as the fifth endurance event. The 4.048-mile circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin is one of the great natural road courses in America.
• Multi-class racing is the draw — GTP prototypes sharing the track with GT cars at 3 a.m. at Daytona. Faster cars threading through traffic. Class battles within the overall battle. There is nothing else like it in motorsport.
