Biography
Sting Ray Robb has one of the most memorable names in motorsport, and the story behind it is just as unique as the driver himself. Born in Payette, Idaho - a small town near the Oregon border northwest of Boise - Robb's name was inspired by the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Growing up in rural Idaho, he was a multi-sport athlete who competed in basketball and cross country at Payette High School before dedicating himself fully to racing.
Robb's path to IndyCar came through the Road to Indy, where he proved himself as one of the most promising young American talents. Across his junior career, he accumulated 11 wins, 32 podiums, and 8 pole positions in the Road to Indy ladder system. Those results earned him a shot at the NTT IndyCar Series, and he made his full-time debut in 2023.
His early IndyCar seasons have been about building experience and learning the nuances of competing at the highest level of American open-wheel racing. After spending time with A.J. Foyt Enterprises in his rookie season, Robb joined Juncos Hollinger Racing for 2025 and returns for a second year with the team in 2026. The continuity with JHR has allowed Robb to develop a strong working relationship with his engineering team, and the stability is expected to translate into improved results.
At just 24 years old, Robb is one of the youngest full-time drivers on the grid and has significant room for growth. Driving the No. 77 Chevrolet alongside veteran teammate Rinus VeeKay, Robb benefits from having a proven race winner in the other side of the garage. His determination, work ethic, and small-town American background have earned him a loyal following, and the IndyCar paddock widely views him as a driver whose best years are still ahead of him.
