Biography

Marcus Armstrong is one of the most naturally talented young drivers in the NTT IndyCar Series, bringing a pedigree that includes time in the Ferrari Driver Academy and experience across multiple top-level European racing categories. Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Armstrong followed the path of his legendary countryman Scott Dixon in pursuing a career in American open-wheel racing, and he has quickly established himself as a driver with serious potential.

Armstrong's talent was recognized early. He was selected for the Ferrari Driver Academy, one of the most prestigious development programs in motorsport, and competed in FIA Formula 3 and Formula 2 in Europe. While the Ferrari pipeline ultimately led toward Formula 1, Armstrong's path brought him to IndyCar, where he has found a home that suits his driving style and competitive ambitions.

Since arriving in the IndyCar Series, Armstrong has steadily improved. In 2025, he recorded 10 top-ten finishes and earned a podium at Iowa Speedway - his second career podium - finishing ninth in the championship standings. His qualifying performances have been equally impressive, matching his career-best starting position of third at Toronto and qualifying fourth at the St. Petersburg season opener. These results demonstrated that Armstrong has the speed to compete at the sharp end of the field.

Now in his second year with Meyer Shank Racing and third IndyCar season overall, Armstrong drives the No. 66 Honda alongside teammate Felix Rosenqvist. At 25, he is still in the early stages of his IndyCar career and is widely regarded as a driver on an upward trajectory. His combination of European pedigree, Ferrari training, and growing IndyCar experience makes him a strong candidate to break through for his first victory in the near future.
