Biography

Isack Hadjar is one of three rookies on the 2026 Formula 1 grid, earning his seat at Red Bull Racing after an impressive run through the junior categories. Born on September 28, 2004 in Paris to a French-Algerian family, Hadjar represents a new generation of diverse talent in Formula 1. His rise through the ranks was rapid and marked by consistent competitiveness against older and more experienced rivals.

Hadjar made his name in Formula 3, where he finished third in the championship in 2023, before stepping up to Formula 2 for 2024. Racing for Campos, he immediately showed frontrunning pace and battled for the championship throughout the season, ultimately finishing as runner-up. That performance, combined with his status as a Red Bull junior driver, earned him the promotion to the senior Red Bull Racing team for 2026 alongside Max Verstappen.

The decision to place a rookie alongside a four-time world champion was bold, but Red Bull has a track record of fast-tracking young talent. Hadjar has shown maturity beyond his years in the opening three races, scoring 4 points despite the team's struggles with the new regulations. While the RB22 has not been the dominant force that Red Bull fans are accustomed to, Hadjar has acquitted himself well and has occasionally matched Verstappen's pace in qualifying trim.

With Algerian heritage on his father's side and French nationality, Hadjar brings welcome diversity to the F1 grid. His calm demeanor and analytical approach to racing have impressed the Red Bull engineering team, and his feedback has been described as mature and constructive. At just 21 years old, Hadjar has time on his side as Red Bull works to return to the front of the grid.
