Biography
Dennis Hauger arrives in the NTT IndyCar Series with one of the most impressive resumes of any rookie in recent memory. Born in Oslo and raised in Aurskog, Norway, Hauger has been a prodigious talent since his teenage years. He was part of the Red Bull Junior Team and won the 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship at just 18 years old, announcing himself as one of Europe's brightest young racing stars.
After his Formula 3 title, Hauger moved up to FIA Formula 2 where he competed from 2022 to 2024. While the results in F2 did not match his F3 dominance, Hauger gained invaluable experience racing at the highest levels of European single-seater competition. Looking for a fresh start and a clear path to a top-level racing seat, Hauger made the bold decision to cross the Atlantic and join the Indy NXT series with Andretti Global in 2025.
That gamble paid off in spectacular fashion. In his only Indy NXT season, Hauger dominated the championship with six wins, seven poles, and 11 podiums across 14 races. He became the first rookie since Kyle Kirkwood in 2021 to capture the title in his debut campaign, and he did so with a level of consistency that left no doubt about his readiness for IndyCar. His championship made him the first Norwegian IndyCar driver in over a century, following Gil Andersen who competed from 1911 to 1916.
For 2026, Hauger joins Dale Coyne Racing to drive the No. 19 Honda, with technical support from Andretti. He showed his potential immediately by finishing 10th at the St. Petersburg season opener, making him the highest-finishing rookie in the first round. At 23, Hauger brings a unique combination of European racing pedigree and American open-wheel championship credentials that makes him one of the most compelling rookies in years.
